diminish Sunday evening. After a lull overnight into Monday
morning, a second, stronger storm will bring a return of hurricane
force winds as early as Monday afternoon and continuing into
Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An area of low pressure will drop southward
Wednesday afternoon across the Central Aleutians, including Adak
and Atka. Periods of snowfall accompanied by gusty winds will lead
to visibilities dropping to as low as a quarter mile due to
blowing snow. Conditions will begin to improve Thursday morning as
the system moves farther southward into the North Pacific.

the Aleutians Wednesday morning, with bands of snow spreading to
Adak and Atka. The low will move very slowly across the Aleutians
to the North Pacific and then stall just to the south of the chain
Wednesday night through Thursday. This will lead to a prolonged
period of snow and blowing snow. Wind direction will be variable
as the low moves through. The strongest winds will be out of the
northeast Wednesday night. Total snow accumulation will vary
significantly from island to island, with occasional breaks in the
snow. Right now, it looks like Atka is favored to see some of the
heaviest snow from this storm.

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions possible. Total snow accumulations 3 to
5 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph for Adak and
Atka.
* WHERE...Central Aleutians, including Adak and Atka.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon AKST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one quarter mile or less due to
blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain will change to snow for Adak and Atka
tonight as temperatures drop to around 32 degrees. The combination
of strong winds and snow may lead to near-blizzard conditions at
times. The widespread snow will become more showery in nature
through Friday morning. Snow showers and gusty winds may
periodically reduce visibility through Friday night even after the
strongest winds begin to decrease in intensity.
