Special Weather Statement
Observations indicated that a band of 2 to 4 inches of snow fell
across portions of Screven, Allendale, Hampton, Jasper, and
Beaufort Counties from the recent winter storm. Sunny conditions
along with temperatures above freezing will melt much of the
snowpack today. As temperatures fall below freezing tonight, melt
water may freeze and create icy spots on paved surfaces such as
bridges and overpasses, primary and secondary roads, parking lots,
sidewalks and driveways.
Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces.
The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you
are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor
vehicle or to slip and fall.

Patchy fog will continue to develop south of the I-16 corridor
through sunrise. The fog could become locally dense at times with
visibilities dropping to 1/4 mile or less. The nature of the fog is
such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances with
the risk for locally dense fog being the greatest near bodies of
water and other low-lying areas such as marshes, swamps and large
ditches. Motorists should remain alert for these conditions this
morning.

greatest roughly along and west of I-95, including communities such
as Walterboro, Allendale, Hampton, Savannah, Hinesville,
Springfield, Sylvania, Statesboro, Claxton, Metter and Reidsville. A
Dense Fog Advisory may be needed for portions of the area overnight
