Winter Weather Advisory
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches. * WHERE...In Maine, Coastal York County. In New Hampshire, Coastal Rockingham, Eastern Hillsborough, and Interior Rockingham Counties. * WHEN...From noon Friday to 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...A plowable snowfall is expected Friday afternoon and Friday night with reduced visibilities and slick travel. Snow may be briefly heavy Friday evening...with significant impacts possible for the evening commute. Snowfall will diminish in intensity Friday night.
Special Weather Statement
After a period of light rain/snow showers this afternoon and evening, temperatures will fall below freezing and into the 20s overnight. Light winds will limit how quickly wet surfaces can dry out and thus we expect areas of black ice to develop tonight and persist through the morning commute tomorrow. Travel with caution, especially on untreated surfaces and secondary roads.
Winter Weather Advisory
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. * WHERE...Portions of central and western Massachusetts. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 4 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
Special Weather Statement
Patchy dense fog this morning resulted in poor visibility as low as one quarter mile. With temperatures also near freezing, this could lead to slippery spots on untreated surfaces in addition to the poor visibility. Elevated surfaces such as bridges are most likely to have icy spots. Travelers this morning should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination safely. Remain alert for sudden drops in visibility and possible icy spots.
Coastal Flood Watch
* WHAT...Minor to perhaps moderate coastal flooding possible around high tide. Water could be as deep as 1 to 2 feet. * WHERE...Eastern Massachusetts coast including Cape Cod, Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket. * WHEN...From Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Expect at least shallow flooding less than one foot deep along much of the eastern Massachusetts coastline, resulting in temporary closure of more vulnerable coastal roads around high tide Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and midday Monday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Moderate flooding, should it occur, is more likely along the Bay side of Cape Cod, in Nantucket Harbor, and in Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, and Oak Bluffs on Marthas Vineyard.
Coastal Flood Advisory
* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (4.0 to 13.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...The eastern MA coastline. * WHEN...Until 2 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Shallow pockets of flooding less than one foot deep affects the lowest lying areas along the coast, including Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. Most roads remain passable. Flooding up to one foot deep affects coastal roads on the North Shore from Salem to Gloucester and Newburyport. Rough surf will cause flooding on some coastal roads around the time of high tide due to splashover. Roads remain passable with pockets of shallow flooding less than one foot deep. This mainly affects low lying areas and roads near Edgartown Harbor, including the Chappy Ferry Dock. Shallow flooding may also approach Five Corners in Vineyard Haven. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Two additional high tide cycles will result in pockets of minor coastal flooding. The first is very late tonight with the second around lunchtime Monday. Sub-freezing temperatures and very cold road surfaces could allow storm surge to freeze, prolonging impacts and delaying drainage after high tide periods.
Coastal Flood Advisory
* WHAT...One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (10.8 to 12.7 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA and Eastern Plymouth MA Counties. * WHEN...Multiple high tide cycles Sunday morning into Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Shallow pockets of flooding less than one foot deep affects the lowest lying areas along the coast, including Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. Flooding up to one foot deep affects coastal roads on the North Shore from Salem to Gloucester and Newburyport. Rough surf will cause flooding on some coastal roads around the time of high tide due to splashover. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Sub-freezing temperatures and cold road surfaces may allow for some of the storm surge to freeze. This would result in prolonged issues on those vulnerable roadways and also delay drainage.
Winter Weather Advisory
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Barnstable MA, Dukes MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, and Nantucket MA Counties. * WHEN...From 4 AM Sunday to 4 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
