* WHAT...Heavy snow. A band of 9 to 13 inch accumulations peaking
roughly from around Van Buren, Missouri across Southern Illinois
and the Ohio River counties of Western Kentucky to the Evansville
Tri-State region. 5 to 8 inches of snow is forecast in other
locations across far southeast Missouri and southern portions of
west Kentucky. Periods of heavy sleet in far southeast Missouri
and western Kentucky are possible, mainly Saturday evening through
midday Sunday, with some freezing rain possible in the southern
Kentucky Pennyrile. Sleet mixing in those areas may add up to over
an inch, with a light glaze of freezing rain.

.Snow is expected to begin overnight tonight, periods of sleet will
mix in over western Kentucky and far southeast Missouri. The
majority of the event is expected to persist at heavy snow through
Sunday afternoon.
* WHAT...Heavy snow. A band of 8 to 13 inch accumulations peaking
roughly from around Poplar Bluff, MO to Paducah and Marion
northeastward to Evansville and Owensboro. 6 to 10 inches in other
locations across southern Illinois and far southwest Kentucky.
Periods of heavy sleet in far southeast Missouri and western
Kentucky with freezing rain mixed in. Some sleet accumulation and
up to a light glaze of freezing rain.

At 614 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles west of Carrier Mills to near
Morehouse. Movement was east at 45 mph. This line is close to severe
and brief intensification are possible. The line is also being
monitored closely for any sign of tornado potential.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

A strong cold front will approach and move through the Quad State
area this afternoon and evening. Ahead of the front, south winds
will gust to around 35 mph with a few gusts possibly reaching 40
mph at times. A line of showers and a few thunderstorms will also
pass through with the cold front, which may produce brief higher
wind gusts. Behind the front, winds will quickly shift to the
west, then northwest with gusts to 35 mph possible through or just
after midnight. Temperatures will also drop quickly behind the
