Flood Watch
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following
areas, Austin, Bolivar Peninsula, Brazoria Islands, Brazos,
Burleson, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston, Coastal
Harris, Coastal Matagorda, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston Island,
Grimes, Houston, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Inland Harris,
Inland Matagorda, Madison, Matagorda Islands, Montgomery, Northern
Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker,
Waller, Washington and Wharton.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rainfall amounts from this morning's round of strong to
severe thunderstorms are mainly in the 1-3" range. Rainfall
rates in the strongest storms were as much as 3-4" per hour,
which did lead to localized instances of street flooding. The
next round of storms is expected to push through Southeast
Texas later this afternoon and into the evening hours. This
timing based on the latest model guidance is a bit quicker
than previously anticipated, so the Flood Watch will likely
be cancelled earlier than the current scheduled expiration
time. Still anticipating widespread 2-4" amounts with
isolated totals up to 4-6" between this morning's storms and
the storms later today. There is potential for an axis of
heavy rain later today with totals as high as 2-3". A brief
lull in activity will persist through this morning and into
the afternoon until the next round of storms develop. Areas
that received closer to 2-3" of rain this morning will see
this afternoon's rainfall runoff much quicker.

flooding possible.
* WHERE...Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda
Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the
Bolivar Peninsula.
* WHEN...Through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water. Flooding of lots, parks, and
roads possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized minor coastal flooding will be
possible during times of high tide and mainly near Galveston
Bay. Water levels are expected to be around 3.5 ft above MLLW
during high tide cycles through Saturday evening.

* WHEN...Through late Saturday night.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Although soils are dry ahead of this heavy rainfall event,
there is enough support in guidance for high rainfall rates
to lead to some instances of flash flooding. There will be
two rounds of heavy rainfall with the first one being late
Friday night into Saturday morning and Saturday evening into
early Sunday morning. Widespread rainfall totals of 2-4" with
isolated higher amounts up to 4-6". Rainfall rates in the
strongest storms could exceed 2-3" per hour, which could lead
to flash flooding if these rainfall rates occur for a
prolonged period of time. There is expected to be a lull in
the activity late Saturday morning into the afternoon which
will allow for drainage, so the flood threat is primarily
driven by the potential for high rainfall rates.
