Special Weather Statement
A combination of northwest wind gusts to 20 to 30 mph and minimum
relative humidity values of 20 to 40 percent will create an
elevated fire danger today. The lowest humidity values (around
20-25 percent) will be along and south of US 30, west of I 69-
especially near White County, IN.
Furthermore, given the extreme drought in northwest Ohio and
portions of north-central Indiana, fine fuels-such as grasses and
leaf litter-are dry and susceptible to ignition. This is
especially the case in areas that did not receive as much
precipitation or snowfall in the last event.
Take precautions if planning to do any outdoor burning today as
conditions are favorable for fire spread.

Special Weather Statement
An elevated risk for fire spread exists this afternoon around
northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana. The combination of dry
air, gusty northwest winds, and recent dry conditions may make
fires difficult to manage and could cause them to spread rapidly.
Use extra caution while burning and disposing of burning materials
today, including leaves and other vegetation.

Special Weather Statement
Gusty Southwest to Westerly winds tonight may cause
blowing/drifting snow across local roadways which could cause
slippery conditions. Temperatures overnight will also drop to
freezing or slightly below freezing which may cause wet roads
from snow melt to re-freeze causing slippery conditions and black
ice to form, especially on untreated roads and bridges. Use
caution when traveling and treat wet looking roads like ice.

Winter Storm Warning

effect snow. Lake effect snow is often very localized, with
conditions varying from safe to dangerous across just a few miles.

Special Weather Statement
A band of lake effect snow is expected to pivot eastward around
southern Lake Michigan between daybreak and noon central time
today. As the band shifts eastward, snow rates of 1 inch per hour
may allow for snow to stick to untreated roadways as well as
bridges and overpasses. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches
are expected, though locally higher amounts cannot be ruled out.
If you encounter the band of lake effect snow, travel at safe speeds
and keep adequate distances between you and the car in front of you.
Intense lake effect snow is expected tonight and Monday. A Winter
Storm Warning goes into effect for Lake and Porter counties at 10
PM CT. A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for Jasper and
Newton counties at 12 AM CT. Both products will remain in effect
through 6 PM Monday.

snowfall rates greater than 3 inches per hour possible. Localized

* WHEN...From late Sunday night through Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Roads will become snow covered and travel extremely
hazardous underneath the more intense snow bands.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong northerly winds will gust to around 35
mph at times, resulting in some blowing and drifting snow.

Periods of light to moderate snow are expected this morning. If
travelling, be prepared for slick and slushy roads with
visibilities dropping to one mile or less at times. Minor snow
accumulation is expected, especially on grassy or elevated
surfaces. It's possible that snow changes back to rain or a mix,
which will limit accumulation.

Special Weather Statement
Southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph, unseasonably warm
temperatures, low relative humidities, and dry vegetation will
result in a heightened risk of grass, brush, and field fires this
afternoon.
Any fires that ignite may become difficult to control due to the
strong winds and dry conditions. Outdoor burning is strongly
discouraged. Please heed any local burn bans. Take care to prevent
the start of accidental fires when handling cigarettes or
operating vehicles and farm equipment around dry vegetation or
crops.
Additionally, the gusty winds may cause dust from harvesting
activities to be blown around, resulting in localized sharp
visibility reductions. Motorists are advised to use caution when
driving near farmland, particularly on east-west roads in open
areas.

The combination of unseasonably warm temperatures, low relative
humidity, dry vegetation, and gusty south-southwesterly winds

Take care to prevent the start of accidental fires when handling
cigarettes or operating vehicles and farm equipment around dry
vegetation or crops.
Any fires that ignite may become difficult to control. Outdoor
burning is strongly discouraged today. Please heed any local burn
bans. Have a water source readily available and ensure any fires
are fully extinguished.
