At 415 PM MST, snow showers were increasing along the continental
divide from Rogers Pass south through Elk Park. These snow showers
will become more numerous across southern Lewis and Clark,
Jefferson, Broadwater and Meagher counties through early this
evening and may organize into bands with locally more intense
snowfall.
Visibility may be locally reduced to less than one mile in snow
showers with quick slushy accumulation on road surfaces this
evening. Snowfall amounts to around 2 inches are expected near
the continental divide with an inch or less at elevations below
5000 feet, including the Helena Valley. In addition, temperatures
falling below freezing may lead to icy road conditions.
Those traveling the interstate between Helena and Butte or over
passes across the continental divide are most likely to see
winter weather impacts this evening and should be alert for
changing road conditions and areas of poor visibility this
evening.
