AVALANCHE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 5:00 PM TUESDAY UNTIL 5:00 PM
WEDNESDAY
*WHAT Dangerous avalanche conditions are taking shape. Expect the
Avalanche Danger to rise to HIGH (Level 4 of 5) by late Wednesday
evening.
*WHERE Park Range, Flat Tops, Elk heads, and Ruby Raggeds
*WHEN Expect dangerous avalanche conditions to begin overnight
Wednesday and last through Thursday.
*IMPACTS Heavy snow and wind, drifting snow, will create dangerous
avalanche conditions. Large and dangerous avalanches will be easy to
trigger once the new snow accumulates. Avalanches will run
naturally.
*PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS Travel in backcountry avalanche
terrain is not recommended on THURSDAY. Avoid travel on and under
slopes with a slope angle steeper than about 30 degrees. You can

* WHAT...Rapid rise in water levels and potential river flooding
caused by an ice jam release is possible.
* WHERE...The Roaring Fork River and Fryingpan River from Snowmass
Canyon through the town of Basalt and downstream to the confluence
with the Colorado River.
* WHEN...Until 800 PM MST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...A river ice jam release could result in a rapid increase
in water levels and flow. Anyone near or in the Roaring Fork River
or Fryingpan River should use extreme caution through the weekend.
Rivers can fill with ice and debris in a matter of minutes
downstream a river ice break.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1107 AM MST, Emergency Management reported a river ice jam
within the advisory area. Warmer weather forecast through the
weekend could allow river ice jams to break and result in
minor flooding downstream.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...

* IMPACTS...Anglers and anyone near or in the Roaring Fork River
should move away from the river and seek higher ground now. Use
extreme caution and be on the lookout for ice and debris flowing
in the river.

- At 452 PM MST, Local law enforcement reported flooding in the
advisory area. Minor flooding is already occurring.
