Winter Weather Advisory
...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS TO PERSIST TODAY DUE TO BLOWING SNOW
AND SLIPPERY ROADS...
.Although the potent storm system responsible for the blizzard
conditions and accumulating snow has shifted east of the area, its
residual impacts will persist across central and southern MN through
western WI. Road conditions are still hazardous due to icy layers
under the accumulating snow, while elevated winds are still producing
reduced visibility and blowing snow conditions. These elements will
make for hazardous travel conditions through the day today, even with
winds diminishing and partial clearing by later today.
If necessary to be out traveling today, motorists are urged to allow
plenty of extra travel time and allow plenty of space between
vehicles as slippery roads may still be encountered.
* WHAT...Blowing snow and slippery roads, bridges and overpasses.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central,
southeast, southwest, and west central Minnesota and northwest and
west central Wisconsin.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening.

slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions will impact the
Monday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Storm Watch
...POTENT WINTER STORM TO BRING ACCUMULATING SNOW AND POSSIBLE
BLIZZARD CONDITIONS TO CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN
WISCONSIN SUNDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...
.A developing winter system over the Northern Plains today will
become much stronger as it moves across the Upper Midwest Sunday
through Sunday night. Snow will develop over western and southern MN
Sunday morning while rain commences over eastern MN and western WI.
The rain will change over to all snow as the temperature drops during
the day Sunday. The snow will become moderate to heavy at times,
especially over eastern MN and western WI Sunday through Sunday
evening, producing snow accumulations in excess of 4 to 6 inches over
eastern MN and western WI. In addition, strong winds will develop
Sunday evening through Sunday night while snow continues to fall,
significantly reducing visibility across the region. The strongest
winds and lowest visibilities are expected over western through far
southern MN, where blizzard conditions are possible.
Travel may become significantly impacted Sunday through Sunday night,
due to both moderate to heavy falling snow at times along with strong
winds accompanying the falling snow which may reduce visibilities for
prolonged periods. All are urged to keep up with the latest forecasts
and prepare to alter travel if necessary.
* WHAT...Snow likely, possibly heavy at times. Total snow
accumulations between 5 and 8 inches. A light glazing of ice is
possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Barron, Polk, Rusk, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin,
Pierce, and St. Croix Counties.
* WHEN...From Sunday morning through Monday morning.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Monday morning commute.

Special Weather Statement
A swath of primarily light freezing rain, mixed with snow or
sleet at times, will develop and track east across central and
eastern Minnesota into western Wisconsin between 2 AM and 7 AM. An
hour or two of this light wintry mix may result in minor ice
accumulations. Slick spots may form on roads and sidewalks in
time for the Monday morning commute. Precipitation should become
mostly snow as the band pushes farther east into Wisconsin with up
to an inch of snow accumulation possible.
