Special Weather Statement
Spotty freezing drizzle is possible through tonight north of the Mass Pike and in the higher elevations. Be alert for icy spots on untreated roads. Across the rest of southern New England, including areas near the coast, temperatures will fall to around freezing later tonight into early Saturday morning. Leftover moisture may produce icy spots on untreated roads in these areas as well. Plan on allowing extra travel time and be especially careful on bridges and overpasses. Temperatures will warm above freezing Saturday morning.
Special Weather Statement
Radar shows an area of freezing drizzle and mist tracking into portions of western New England. Since temperatures in this area remain near or below freezing, especially in the higher elevations, a light glaze of ice could result in slippery travel conditions this evening and early tonight. Motorists and pedestrians should remain aware of the possibility for icy surfaces through this evening and tonight. Elevated roads such as bridges and overpasses, and highway on and off ramps will be particularly vulnerable to icing, as well as parking lots and other untreated walkways.

A quick burst of snow will overspread the region from west to east between 5 and 8 am Wednesday morning. The snow will be short- lived and exit the coast by early afternoon perhaps even ending as a bit of rain. However...the burst of snow will coincide with part of the morning commute with a quick 1-2" of snow and localized 3" possible. Motorists should be prepared for a period of snow covered roads and reduced visibility for the morning commute. Temperatures will rise well above freezing by afternoon alleviating any issues.
Special Weather Statement
With temperatures below freezing across the region any snowmelt that occurred during the day will refreeze, especially on untreated surfaces, resulting in black ice. Then a period of light snow is likely by late tonight into the Wednesday morning commute, 400 AM to 1000 AM EST. This light snow, 1 to 2 inches, falling on top of the black ice could make for treacherous travel. Rain may also mix in with the snow along the coast early Wednesday morning. Special Weather Statement
After a period of light rain/snow showers this afternoon and evening, temperatures will fall below freezing and into the 20s overnight. Light winds will limit how quickly wet surfaces can dry out and thus we expect areas of black ice to develop tonight and persist through the morning commute tomorrow. Travel with caution, especially on untreated surfaces and secondary roads.
Special Weather Statement
Untreated wet ground surfaces from previous rain and melted snow will likely freeze overnight as temperatures drop into the 20s. This will allow for areas of black ice to form on untreated ground surfaces. Motorists and pedestrians should expect areas of icy travel conditions overnight through Thursday morning, especially on untreated ground surfaces and secondary roadways. Elevated roadways such as bridges and overpasses as well as highway on and off ramps will be particularly vulnerable to black ice formation and slippery travel conditions through Thursday morning.
Winter Weather Advisory

Additional snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. * WHERE...Berkshire County in western Massachusetts and the Mohawk Valley, eastern Catskills, Helderbergs, northern and central Taconics and Capital District in eastern New York. * WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Localized pockets of freezing rain will be possible as well, especially along and south of Interstate 90 and in higher elevations, which may produce up to a light glaze. As temperatures fall below freezing tonight, any wet, untreated surfaces may become icy so use caution if traveling tonight.
