Intermittent snow showers will move across the central Chicago metro through 10 PM CDT. Conditions will vary considerably, with each shower reducing visibility to one half mile or less and producing a quick coating of snow in less than 15 minutes. Winds will also begin gusting to over 30 mph as the snow showers end and may result in shallow blowing snow across primarily north-south oriented roadways. Motorists should be prepared to encounter localized poor travel conditions. Take it slow and keep a safe following distance when on snow covered roads and during periods of low visibility.
