Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal
Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.
The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.
This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.
At 10 a.m., Typhoon Matmo was estimated to be about 370 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.3 degrees north 111.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards Leizhou Peninsula. Over the past few hours, Matmo skirted more than 300 kilometres to the southwest of Hong Kong and departed gradually. However, under the influence of the outer rainbands of Matmo, local winds are still strong at first, occasionally up to gales offshore and on high ground. There will be occasional squally showers, thunderstorms, and intense gusts.
According to the present forecast, local winds will weaken gradually in the afternoon. When strong winds no longer pose threats to Hong Kong generally, the Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal, No. 1.
Seas will be rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.
In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Cheung Chau, Tap Mun and Green Island were 79, 63 and 59 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 107, 74 and 85 kilometres per hour respectively.

Huangpu Thunderstorm and Gale Warning lifted: In the past 4 hours, our district has experienced moderate thunderstorms accompanied by gusts of 6-8 levels. Wenchong Street recorded the maximum gust of 18.5m/s (level 8) in the entire district. At present, thunderstorms and cloud clusters have moved out of our area.
