and Northern Alaska Peninsula.
* WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these
temperatures.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures and wind chills have warmed with
the arrival of clouds and even some light snow in some areas.
Gusty winds will persist across the region through tonight,
maintaining wind chills as low as 40 below. Winds will then die
down Wednesday, bringing an end to the threat of low wind chills.

Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these
temperatures.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills of -40 or lower were more
widespread this morning than they were yesterday, and were
observed in the following places: Sleetmute, Koliganek, Iliamna,
Kokhanok, Igiugig, King Salmon, and Togiak. Wind chills are still
forecast to warm above -40 by Thursday afternoon as a warm and wet
storm moves in.

could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these
temperatures.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another prolonged period of very cold wind
chills is forecast this week, with ambient temperatures gradually
decreasing through mid-week along with persistent northerly winds.
Communities across Bristol Bay, and the Lower Kuskokwim Valley
will see wind chills drop below -40F this evening. Warmer
temperatures look to arrive on Thursday.

Alaska Peninsula, Bristol Bay Borough (Naknek and King Salmon),
Inland Bristol Bay, and Lake Iliamna / Nila Vena / Nanvarpak.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged
exposure.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Air temperatures will continue to remain
around -10 to -20 degrees along the coast and as low as -20 to -30
degrees inland. Winds as high as 20 mph will bring widespread
areas of frigid wind chills to -50F or lower. The coldest wind
chills are expected for the Lower Kuskokwim Valley. Wind chills
will improve by tomorrow, but another round of cold temperatures
and wind chills is expected early next week.

and Port Heiden, very cold wind chills as low as -30 to -45.
* WHERE...Lower Kuskokwim Valley, Kuskokwim Delta, Western Capes,
Bristol Bay, and Northern and Central Alaska Peninsula.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM AKST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 55 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Air temperatures will steadily drop through
tonight night, reaching as low as -30 to -40 degrees. Beginning
this evening, sustained winds as high as 20-30 mph will bring
widespread areas of frigid wind chills, with the wind chills to
-55 or lower. Coldest wind chills expected for inland Kuskokwim
Delta and interior Bristol Bay. Confidence is low for when this
cold air outbreak will end, as there is a chance that bitterly
cold conditions could continue through early next week.

air outbreak will end, as there is a chance that bitterly cold
conditions could continue through early next week.

Coastal Flood Advisory
* WHAT...Water levels as high as 5 to 8 ft above the normal
highest tide line.
* WHERE...Along the Northern Alaska Peninsula Coast from Pilot
Point to Egegik.
* WHEN...Until very early Tuesday morning. Highest water levels
expected during the high tide between 12pm and 5pm today.
* IMPACTS...Coastal flooding of low lying areas and erosion are
possible. For Pilot Point, these water levels may lead to
minor flooding for buildings along Dago Creek Road. For
Egegik, water may approach buildings along the shoreline.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong westerly winds will gust as high
as 40 to 50 mph this afternoon. These strong winds will
coincide with the high tide, leading to coastal water levels
as high as 5-8 ft above the normal highest tide line.
