For Pilot Point and Port Heiden, very cold wind chills as low as -30 to -45. * WHERE...Lower Kuskokwim Valley, Kuskokwim Delta, Western Capes, Bristol Bay, and Northern and Central Alaska Peninsula. * WHEN...From 6 PM Wednesday to 6 PM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 55 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Air temperatures will steadily drop through Wednesday night, reaching as low as -30 to -40 degrees. Beginning Wednesday evening, sustained winds as high as 20-30 mph will bring widespread areas of frigid wind chills, with the potential for wind chills to -55 or lower. Confidence is low for when this cold air outbreak will end, as there is a chance that bitterly cold conditions could continue through early next week.
