Hydrologic Outlook
ESFLOT
Cold temperatures this week have caused a significant increase in
river ice across the area, including multiple ice jams. Cold
temperatures are expected to continue into next week, with favorable
conditions for river ice formation. Areas of open river may see new
ice growth, while areas with existing ice cover my thicken.
No widespread flooding is expected, but ice jams will be possible in
isolated areas, especially along the Rock, Fox, and Kankakee rivers.
Ice jams may cause rises or fluctuations on area rivers with little
warning.
Persons with interests along area rivers should closely monitor the
latest forecasts.

Special Weather Statement
Strong northwest winds gusting to 40 to 45 mph will continue over
northwest and west central Illinois through 3 A.M. before
gradually easing. There will also be narrow corridors of snow
showers in parts of northwest and west central Illinois that will
lead to temporary sharply reduced visibility, including near I-74
in Henry County. Use caution if traveling, especially high profile
vehicles, and allow plenty of extra time to reach your
destination.

Special Weather Statement
Strong northwest winds will develop late this evening and
overnight behind an arctic cold front, gusting up to 40 mph. In
addition, scattered wind-whipped snow showers will accompany this
front as it moves east across the region. The most robust snow
showers will result in localized sharply-reduced visibilities as
low as a half mile and quick additional snow accumulations of a
coating up to one inch.
