Des phénomènes habituels dans la région mais occasionnellement et localement dangereux sont prévus (exemple : mistral, orage d'été, montée des eaux, fortes vagues submergeant le littoral).

Vigilance orange vagues-submersion
Les submersions marines peuvent provoquer des inondations sévères et rapides du littoral, des ports et des embouchures de fleuves et rivières. Les vagues peuvent, quant à elles, endommager des infrastructures côtières par effet mécanique et provoquer des envahissements d'eau par projection. Ces deux phénomènes, lorsqu'ils sont simultanés, sont particulièrement destructeurs. En cas de submersion, les voies de communication, les habitations, les zones d'activités peuvent être inondées et endommagées en quelques heures, voire moins, même à plusieurs kilomètres du littoral. Les vagues peuvent transporter des objets ou matériaux (notamment des galets) et en faire des projectiles susceptibles de blesser des personnes ou d'endommager des biens. Les objets non correctement arrimés peuvent être emportés. Les bateaux, même amarrés au ponton dans les ports, peuvent être soulevés et emportés sur la terre ferme. A proximité des estuaires, l'écoulement des cours d'eau peut également être ralenti voire stoppé, ce qui génère alors des débordements. Les dégâts peuvent être aggravés en cas de violentes rafales de vent, fortes pluies, ruptures de digues. Les dommages aux personnes et aux biens provoqués par les vagues et les submersions dépendent donc de facteurs naturels mais également de l'implantation des activités humaines (occupation des sols). Ils peuvent être réduits grâce à des mesures de protection (digues, jetées, dunes) et de prévention (restriction sur les aménagements en zone exposée, information, préparation...).
