Highest uncertainty regarding this system is the depth of the moisture profile, which will dictate heavier rates. As of 1230am, with slightly quicker arrival of the precipitation, adjusted timing of the advisory forward a couple hours. Otherwise, no major changes to ongoing forecast. Previously toned down the advisory amounts, but there is still potential for rates exceeding 0.5 inches, around 40% through Monday morning. * WHAT...Snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. * WHERE...Haines, Lutak, and Mud Bay. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As of 12:30am AKST, an estimated 1" of snow has fallen via satellite imagery and AKDOT 511 webcams near the Chilkat River Bridge. Further towards town, Haines Airport is reporting snowfall with reduced visibilities as low as 4 statute miles. Snowfall is expected to continue through Monday, heaviest snowfall rates are expected Monday morning, with rates possibly exceeding 0.5 inches per hour at times.
