Snow is beginning to mix with freezing drizzle over central Wisconsin. Expect this wintry mix to impact areas from Marathon through Waushara counties, including Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, and Coloma. Portions of I-39 and highways 10 and 29 may be impacted by a wintry mix. The freezing drizzle and snow occurring with temperatures well below freezing will lead to icy spots on untreated roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces. Use caution if traveling this evening by increasing your following distance and allowing extra time to reach your destination. Expect the snow and freezing drizzle to gradually diminish after 7 pm over central Wisconsin.

Snow will continue across the area into early this evening. Overall, snow amounts will be an inch or less in most areas, but with the cold temperatures, the snow will lead to slippery conditions on less traveled and untreated roads. Visibility may be reduced to less than an mile at times. Exercise caution when driving by increasing your following distance and allowing extra time to reach your destination. Snow will begin to taper off over central Wisconsin after 6 pm, but not until after 7 or 8 pm over eastern Wisconsin. Some light lake effect snow showers will linger most of the night over far northern Wisconsin.

Snow and pockets of freezing drizzle will continue to move through the region this afternoon and evening resulting in slick road conditions in spots. The highest potential for freezing drizzle to occur will be in locations near the Mississippi River. Motorists should slow down and give themselves space between the car in front when encounter snow covered or icy roads.
