Special Weather Statement
Dead brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days
across much of western North Carolina due to breezy conditions
and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast once
again today. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for
most of the afternoon and wind gusts may reach 20 mph at times.
These factors combined with dry vegetation will result in elevated
wildfire danger, especially this afternoon.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn Tuesday. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
